We would like to take you on a Zambia Safari
At Nekacheya Travel and Tours, our mission is to showcase Zambia's diverse culture, vibrant towns and cities, and breathtaking natural wonders brimming with an abundance of flora and fauna. We're committed to providing our guests with an unforgettable experience that leaves a lasting impression.
Through our social media presence on Instagram, Facebook, and our dedicated website, we aim to spotlight Zambia as a premier destination for travelers. By sharing authentic experiences, we strive to embed Zambia deep in the hearts of our guests.
Giving back to the community is at the core of our values. That's why we established Nekacheya School, driven by our belief that education is the pathway to empowerment and sustainable change.
Additionally, we're passionate about reconnecting Zambians with their remarkable natural heritage. Our focus on promoting local tours aims to foster a sense of pride and appreciation for Zambia's breathtaking landscapes among its people. By involving locals in the conservation of our natural treasures and national parks, we aspire to instill a sense of ownership and guardianship for our country's natural beauty.
At Nekacheya Travel and Tours, our efforts extend beyond tourism. We're dedicated to nurturing a deep sense of pride, education, and conservation among both visitors and the wonderful people of Zambia.
Nekacheya Travel and Tours was founded by Herbert, a dedicated educator who found a profound calling after a tragic incident. Following the loss of his mother to an elephant encounter in 2003, Herbert chose to transform his grief into a mission of understanding and appreciating nature.
Herbert's mother, a cherished member of her community, encountered an elephant while gathering firewood in their village located in the Mosi oa Tunya National Park in Livingstone. The unforeseen incident, where the elephant reacted defensively, resulted in a devastating outcome.
Despite this tragedy, Herbert's resolve to foster a positive relationship between humans and wildlife was born. He believed that fostering understanding and respect for nature was the way forward. Determined to promote responsible and sustainable tourism, Herbert established Nekacheya Travel and Tours to offer both international and local guests unique, enriching experiences that celebrate the beauty of the environment.
The company's logo, featuring two elephant footprints, symbolizes their commitment to wildlife conservation and responsible tourism. Over time, Herbert has been joined by a passionate team—Innocent, Gift, Jones and Petronella—who share his vision for creating memorable and safe experiences for travelers. Through Nekacheya Travel and Tours, they aim to not just showcase Zambia's natural wonders but also advocate for coexistence and harmony between humans and wildlife.
As Herbert started his tourism business after teaching for the majority of his professional life, he and his wife also opened a pre and primary school in Livingstone. At first our mission was to help children who have difficulties reading but it evolved to a school where we teach them as much as possible.
We understand the responsibility that comes with educating our Children, but we feel it is our mission as well as our obligation to give them a headstart towards a bright future.
We, the Nekacheya Team, welcome volunteers from all over the world to help at the school. The volunteers are able to stay in one of our three guesthouses. Meanwhile we provide them with local meals and they are able to live closely with our team where we confront them with Zambian's finest hospitality.
Our goal is to reduce our impact on the environment by reducing our use of plastics and fossil fuels.
We want to strive to, while giving people an amazing safari experience, reduce our impact and disturbance of the fauna and flora to an absolute minimum.
To achieve this we try promote as much as possible walking safaris, when taking our clients to river safaris we strive to use boats with an electrical motor, which reduce the noise and/or to use canoe's or kayak's.
When taking people on any safari, we filter water and promote the use of drinking bottles so that we don't have to rely on plastic water bottles. When we can't find an alternative for the use of plastics, we strive to reuse, recycle, repurpose, etc. the plastics.
